Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne S.A. in KrakowOn Tuesday, 29th April, 2014, Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne S.A. in Krakow and Municipality of Krakow opened a regular electric bus line.
Line No. 154, connecting Dworzec Główny Zachód (Main Station West) with Prądnik Biały, was a first bus line in Poland operated by electric vehicles only. Thanks to electric drive, they do not pollute the air. At the same time, they ensure the passengers a comfortable travel.
Since 9th June, 2014, the electric buses equipped with pantographs are able to have their batteries recharged on a special charging station at Pawia street. Recharging the bus requires using the pantograph, installed on the roof. After lifting it, the batteries are charged with energy from overhead lines. This way of refilling the battery lets the electric bus be recharged between the rides. Charging stations are located next to the first stop of line 154. It is the first bus charging solution of this kind in Poland.
